Job description:
Responsible for the preparation and coordination of invention disclosures with outside counsel as required for preparing, filing and prosecuting patent applications based on company inventions. Provides support and advice to senior executives for the protection of all intellectual property including copyrights and trademark items. Essential duties include: works with technical staff regarding development and patentability of new ideas including assisting with identification of new inventions. Coordinates with staff to collate information and material necessary for patent application preparation and assists with preparation of invention disclosure forms. Review invention disclosures and maintains record keeping system. Performs analysis of background information, searches technical literature, patent databases, etc. to identify documents relevant to company technology and patent applications and presents results to staff. Works with outside counsel to coordinate IP portfolio. Assists outside counsel in preparation of patent applications for filings and in preparation of responses to patent office actions for pending applications. Coordinates searches for freedom to operate reviews, externally and internally. Leads patent reviews while supporting intellectual property functions of executive management.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field, advanced degree a plus. Minimum three years hands-on experience with patent processing and administration. Familiarity with electrical engineering, computer science / engineering, or mechanical engineering. Demonstrated ability to perform searches of technical literature through the use of databases.
